SWEDEN’S MOST RELAXED MOUNTAIN MARATHON

Enjoy local culinary delights served at stations along the classic Mountain Marathon trails.
The Mountain Marathon Gastronomy is especially for those who want a memorable day on the mountain, with delicious food and drinks served along the route. All distances follow well-marked trails, and you can choose between 27 & 42 km.
With an open start time, you have the opportunity to walk the course at your own pace, without time pressure. We recommend early starts for runners who prefer a slower pace or wish to hike.
The courses will continue with the start in Edsåsdalen and the finish in Ottsjö for both distances.

Salomon 27K

With its 27 kilometers of pure mountain poetry spanning three peaks and a beautifully situated finish in Ottsjö, this race is widely regarded as one of Sweden’s most scenic.

The Salomon 27K is part of the Golden Trail Series, featuring trail races both in the Nordic region and globally.

Ottsjö 12K

Ottsjö 12K offers an option for those who want to experience a beautiful and memorable trail in mountain terrain without committing to the full marathon distance or the challenging course of the Salomon 27K.

With its 12 kilometers and 300 meters of elevation gain, Ottsjö 12K is still a solid challenge and the perfect first step towards a long-term goal of perhaps one day tackling the Salomon 27K or the Kia Mountain Marathon.

Starting in Ottsjö, participants head up towards Petterfjället and the Kläpphögarna shelter, then continue along the scenic plateau trail, passing Platåkåtan before descending through the village for a final stretch along Ottsjön to the finish line in the Ottsjö meadows.

Run with Your Child

Continuing the success from previous years, participants can run alongside their children. Children aged 10-13 can run with a parent or other adult for just 200 SEK.

The minimum age for these races is otherwise 14, and accompanying adults must maintain contact with their child throughout the race.

We also support youth runners by offering a 50% discount on the registration fee for those aged 14-18.

Jämtkraft Minimaraton

Edsåsdalen hosts races for the youngest runners at the Mountain Marathon.

The start takes place on the grassy slope below Köjagården and continues along a charming forest trail through the imaginative world of trolls.

The race is organized into two non-timed classes:
– Ages 0-6: approximately 800 meters
– Ages 7-12: approximately 1500 meters

All participating children will receive juice, a bun, and a certificate.

Payment of 50 SEK can be made via SWISH to Edsåsdalen Sport Club at 123 41 02 877 on-site using a QR code. Race bibs will be distributed upon showing proof of SWISH payment.

Please arrive in good time.

Vertikal K

The Peak Performance Vertical K is a prestigious race held annually on Tuesday evening in conjunction with the KIA Fjällmaraton Årefjällen. With a mass start from Åre Square and a finish at the top of Åreskutan, the race features exactly 1,000 vertical meters of elevation gain. Expect maximum effort from start to finish!

The course records to beat are Emmie Collinge’s 46:24 and Petter Engdahl’s 40:24.

Prize money for the top 3 (men and women):

1st place – €500
2nd place – €250
3rd place – €100

100K

The Fjällmaraton 100K made its debut during the Kia Fjällmaraton Årefjällen as recently as 2020, but it’s definitely here to stay and is set to become a future classic.

The course takes participants from Fångåmon at dawn, along the winding, runnable trail through Nulltjärn to Vålådalen, where the classic Mountain Marathon trail leads over the rugged Ottfjället. Participants then tackle Hållfjället, Grofjället, and Välliste before reaching the finish line in Ottsjö.

The 100K continues on Thursday to give more focus to participants in this extreme distance. To create a lively atmosphere in the finish area with plenty of spectators, the Ottsjö 8K festival has been scheduled for the same afternoon.

Ottsjö 8K

The race represents a continued effort to broaden mountain running and attract new participants to the sport. Together with our partners, we’re gearing up to create a festival atmosphere all day Thursday in the finish area in Ottsjö.

There will be plenty of side activities throughout the day for family and spectators of the 100K, as well as food offerings from lunch into the evening by Undersåkers Charkuteriefabrik and Krus Bageri.

A generously stocked prize table with practical prizes totaling over 100,000 SEK will be awarded by lottery among all finishing participants.

THE RACE

The start and finish are located at the Mountain Marathon Center in Ottsjö, with a not overly technical trail of just under 8 km and a total elevation gain of around 200 meters.

PRIZES

All prizes will be raffled among finishing participants. Only honorary awards will be given to the fastest male and female participants in addition.

Ottsjö 12K

Ottsjö 12K offers a beautiful and memorable mountain trail experience for those who want to enjoy the terrain without committing to the full marathon distance or the challenging Salomon 27K course.

With 12 km and 300 meters of elevation gain, Ottsjö 12K still presents a solid challenge and serves as the perfect stepping stone for those aiming to tackle the Salomon 27K or Kia Mountain Marathon one day.

Starting in Ottsjö, participants ascend toward Petterfjället and the Kläpphögarna shelter, then traverse the stunning plateau trail, passing Platåkåtan before descending through the village and finishing along Ottsjön in the meadow finish area at Ottsjö.

Run with Your Child

We continue the success from previous years, offering the chance to run alongside your child. Children aged 10-13 can participate with a parent or adult, for just 200 SEK.

The minimum age for these races is otherwise 14, and accompanying adults must maintain contact with their child throughout the race.

We also support young runners by offering a 50% discount on the registration fee for those aged 14-18.

KIA Fjällmaraton 45K

Time for the 20th edition of Sweden’s most historic and prestigious mountain race!

In celebration of this milestone anniversary for the main event, we’re planning something special. We’re excited to welcome back as many past winners as possible to the starting line, as well as all of you who have participated over the years. The Mountain Marathon is an experience-oriented race for all kinds of participants—from casual runners aiming to complete the beautiful course to elite athletes seeking a true challenge.

An extra medal will be awarded to those who achieve the medal time: 5h 45min for men and 6h 30min for women.
