Challenging Tour with Breathtaking Views
According to old lore, this route wasn’t meant for women in skirts. Of course, your gender doesn’t matter, but you should be an experienced skier. If it’s windy and blustery, choose a tour in more sheltered terrain—this trail tends to drift over when the wind picks up on the open mountains.
Start from Trillevallen’s Högfjällshotell or the cross-country parking area and tackle the steady climb via Korsflon to Norra stugan. Before long, you’ll emerge into open mountain terrain, continuing through the Norra ravine. You’ll ski 3.5 kilometers across the high plateau with fantastic views of Åreskutan, Snasahögarna, and Bydalsfjällen. Handölsdalen’s Sami village often has reindeer grazing around Välliste in winter, so please remember that they’re sensitive to disturbance.
After Skalknippen, enjoy a wonderful downhill run to Ludumyrarna via Ripkallhöjden. If you haven’t taken a break before, this is a great spot to do so. The tour then ends with easy skiing back to Högfjällshotellet.
Alternatively, you can start your trip from the ski area, heading toward Norra stugan. In that case, you’ll ski back to the ski area from Torget instead of gliding down to Högfjällshotellet.
