At the beginning of February, the Telemark World Cup kicks off in the Nordic region. The first stop is Trillevallen, before continuing on to Norway.

The world’s foremost telemark skiers will gather with us to compete in our fantastic mountain environment.

Telemark Festival

Swedish National Championships 2026

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Östersund Telemark Club invites all telemark skiers to the first Swedish National Championships in telemark skiing in over 20 years. Take the opportunity to test your skills at a national level!

After last season’s highly successful World Cup event in Trillevallen, featuring high-speed competitions and a great festival atmosphere, it’s time once again. From February 5–7, the world’s top telemark skiers will return to Trillevallen. As before, Östersund Telemark Club will host a telemark festival alongside the World Cup races, culminating in the first Swedish National Championships in telemark skiing in over 20 years on February 8.

Expect four days of inspiration, Telekidz activities, classic telemark turns, celebrations, and plenty of telemark camaraderie. Bring the kids and let them try telemark skiing. Children’s equipment will be available on site.

Take the chance to test this year’s skis, boots, and bindings, or ski together with our instructors.

Activities:

Try Telemark skiing (for beginners)
Improve your Telemark technique (for experienced skiers)
Demo and test rides of Scarpa boots, 22 Designs bindings, and skis from G3 and Blizzard
Après-ski on Saturday with a Telemark quiz and prizes
Rent boots and skis from Ski Dad Trillevallen

Telemark and Its Competition Disciplines

Telemark is a skiing technique and sport that combines elements from both alpine and cross-country skiing. It is characterized by the classic telemark turn, where the skier bends the rear knee and lifts the heel from the ski. Originally from the Telemark region in Norway, this style has become a modern competitive form that requires both technical skill and physical endurance.

In the World Cup, skiers compete in several different disciplines:

Sprint

A shorter course that combines fast downhill skiing through gates, a jump with length requirements, a reipelykkje (360-degree turn around an obstacle), and a final skating section. The competition usually consists of two runs where the total time determines the winner.

Classic

The most demanding discipline with a longer course that includes more gates, several jumps, longer reipelykkjes, and a longer skating part. This event tests the skier’s versatility and endurance to the max.

Parallel Sprint

Two skiers compete side by side on identical courses with gates and jumps. It is a knockout competition where the winner advances to the next round until a final champion is crowned. This discipline is particularly spectator-friendly due to its head-to-head duels and high tempo.

Team Event

Teams consisting of three skiers compete in the parallel sprint format. Each skier faces an opponent, and the team with the most victories advances. Cooperation and team spirit are crucial for success in this discipline.
